The chalet is located 1 km above the centre of the village, in a area known as "Crettet-Bornex". It is a quite area of residential chalets, with magnificent views over the whole resort.
A nice 15 minute walk down, and a 25 minute walk up. (With shoes on, not ski boots 😀).
It is the location of the chalet, above the village, which gives it the amazing panoramic views.
The answer is " it depends on snow conditions".
When snow conditions are good, the snow covers the road, and you can ski down to the ski area, by cutting down through the chalets (off-piste) if you are a good skier.
If snow conditions aren't so good, the road will not be covered in snow. In this case you can walk 350m up the road to join the piste. Similary, coming home you can ski to within 350m of the chalet.
Alternatively, you can drive down to the village, where parking is very easy, next to the main lifts.
For much of the season we tend to drive down. It can happend that the lift will stop working due to wind conditions, in which case, its good to have a car in the parking!
Yes! You can walk up the hill to the restaurant "Relais Panoramique" speciality Rosti ! (15 mins walk)
Or venture down to the centre, for a choice of 3 restaurants and a great creperie.
Yes, there is private parking for 2 cars along the side of the road, and 1 space in front of the chalet.
Honestly, Les Crosets is not for you if you are looking for a buzzing night life.
There are bars in the restaurants, but these are very quiet.
Yes:
There is a train to Val d'Illiez which connects with a post bus to Les Crosets village. However, to reach the chalet you would have to walk 1km to hill.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Val d'Illez which will bring you to the chalet for approx Chf 50.
However, I would recommend that there is at least one car in a rental group, for ferrying people up and down to the slopes in poor snow conditions.
Yes, in the centre of village, the "Epicerie" is a thriving store, providing all your necessities. Fresh bread daily, but do reserve in advance to avoid dissappointment.
